Olivè's Go-To Nail Care Tips

Olivè's Go-To Nail Care Tips

Hi Lovely Readers,

Taking care of your nails goes far beyond just keeping them looking pretty. Your nails deserve the same love and attention you give to the rest of your self-care routine. With a little extra mindfulness, you can keep your nails healthy, strong, and shining naturally. Here are my go-to nail care tips straight from my Melbourne studio to you!

1. Wear Gloves

Protect your nails (and hands!) by wearing gloves while cleaning, gardening, or tackling household chores. To prevent irritation and keep your hands comfortable, choose gloves with a soft cotton lining. These lined gloves provide extra care while shielding your nails from water, chemicals, and dirt. Plus, they help your manicure last longer—win-win!

2. Avoid Heat

Excessive heat can weaken and dry out your nails, making them prone to breakage. Minimise direct exposure to heat tools like hairdryers and steer clear of extremely hot water. Lukewarm is your nail-friendly temperature!

3. Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Chemicals lurking in some nail products or cleaning agents can weaken your nails over time. Choose nail care products, like Oily Olive’s, that are free from harmful toxins and gentle on your nails. Trust me, your nails (and the planet) will thank you.

4. Don’t Use Metal Nail Files

Metal files can cause splits and tears, especially if your nails are already delicate. Instead, go for a soft, fine-grit file to gently shape your nails without damage. Smooth and easy does it!

5. Use Cuticle Oil

Your cuticles are the guardians of your nail bed, so keep them hydrated and happy with a nourishing cuticle oil. A good oil—like the ones we craft with love—strengthens your nails and helps them grow healthier.

6. Use Acetone-Free Remover

Acetone might strip off stubborn polish, but it also strips your nails of their natural moisture, leaving them brittle. Opt for acetone-free polish removers for a gentler alternative that still gets the job done.

7. Don’t Use Nails as Tools

Let’s face it—we’ve all been guilty of using nails to open cans or scrape off stickers. But here’s a mantra for you: *Nails are jewels, not tools*. Treat them delicately, and they’ll reward you with strength and beauty.

8. Dry Hands Thoroughly

Damp hands create the perfect environment for bacterial growth and can weaken your nails. After washing your hands or doing the dishes, dry them thoroughly to keep your nails clean, strong, and safe.

With just a few changes to your daily habits and the right products, you can give your nails the TLC they deserve. Healthy nails are happy nails, and they’re a reflection of the care you give to yourself.

Here’s to making nail care a beautiful part of your self-care ritual! (੭ˊᵕˋ)੭
